Solfege is a free eartraining program for GNOME. The program is part of the GNU Project.
You are running the non GNOME version of Solfege. Unfortunately there are no html widget for gtk+ with usable python bindings, so we have to use this text widget instead. Right-click inside the sqare brackets to follow the links. If you have a chance, please try to make the gnome-print support for GtkHTML optional and see if the developers will accept the patch. (Of course the best solution is to install GNOME!)
Click on one of the icons on the toolbar to start practising, or click here for more info on the user interface. All exercises are useable, but some of the exercises will be much more useful when more lesson files is written.
One of the ideas of this program is that you can extend the program
without having to dig into the source code. If you want to practise
some special chords or want to practise dictation with some music not
included, you can write lessonfiles and
put them into a lessonfiles/
subdirectory in your $HOME
directory.
